Alan Morrison played the Principal Cornet with the Grimethorpe Band who won
the National Brass Band Championship only days after Michael Heseltine announced
the closure of 33 coal mines accross the UK, including Grimephorpe. This formed the theme
for the highly successful film 'Brassed Off' whose soundtrack was massively successful...
A rare crossover into the mainstream for this particular strain of English soul music
Alan plays the cornet, flugelhorn and trumpet and currently holds the position of principal
cornet player with the Brighouse and Rastrick Band. He also plays the Piano, clarinet and was
a semi-professional tenor sax player.
September 2005 marked the release of Alan's first commercial release The Man With The
Golden Cornet on Hot Records an album both warm and very cool somehow capturing the heart
and soul of English Music
